Wild Wasteland Trait: just what does it do?
Hey everyone, I just started Fallout: NV, and i'm loving it so far, except i'm a little confused about one thing: the Wild Wasteland trait. Every once and a while, a sound like a UFO will be heard, and up in the corner the face with the swirly eyes will show up. Now, apparently, this trait is supposed to add some really ridiculous scenarios to the game. however, no matter when or where this shows up, nothing (to me, anyways) seems out of the ordinary. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing something here? id post some examples of when it shows up, but I dont want to spoil it for anyone. Thanks!

The Wild Wasteland trait unlocks weird things in the mojave wasteland, such as the the fridge with the skeleton, hat and whip in it (an Indiana Jones reference if you hadn't caught it). They are scattered about and are generally just fun little silly things. Having these presented as a trait gives you a way to turn them on or off if you want a more or less serious game. Pretty much its harmless fun when on. When you hear that sound, expect a quirky pop culture reference in some manner, wastelandified
Well as long as we're revealing stuff, a few of my favorites from the wild wastelands:
In a church basement in camp searchlight, there was a box of "holy frag grenades" and the sign next to it said to pull the pin and count to 5 (5 crossed off) 3. A reference to the holy hand grenade of Antioch from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
During the quest for the White Glove society, the dead detective has red hair, sunglasses, and is named Crusoe. An obvious knock on David Caruso of CSI: Miami.
On the NCR radio for the final battle, I could hear someone yelling, "game over man, game over". A reference to Hudson in Aliens.
