Dragon Age 2 : Post-play comments

Post by Stworca »

It'll be short, and i'll not answer any questions, because i'm quite disappointed.

1. It's ****ing short. Why did i use a curse word? Because that's how short it is. ToEE is longer. ToEE! 15 hours of gameplay and i was done, did as many side quests as possible.

2. It's a cliffhanger. Epilogue? Not in this one. Expect Dragon Age 3.

3. The save from DA1 is more or less useless. Things you did matter, but the impact on gameplay in DA2 is non-existant

4. Nothing you've seen in trailers comes true.

5. Nothing requires preperation, planning or thinking. "Dora the explorer" is a more difficult game.

Love & Regards

It's still a nice game at times, the controls are smooth, the graphics great, the NPC's very nice.. but i expected much more. This is a disastrous abomination

That should read "Expect to pay for DLC to finish the story."

That's the only thing I felt I needed to comment on, mostly since I'm not going to play the game.

Yes, it's quite obvious that EA policy applies to DA2. "As few work as possible, as much cash as possible". 1 year to make a sequel is surely EA style.

If you're looking for old school RPG elements in DA 2 - there are none. That may be the new record. ;)

Edit : Gamespot gave DA2 a.. I'm speechless. Am I retarded here, or are they getting paid for setting high notes? My cash went to hell. Thankfully i had a nice pre-order deal..

If you're reading this, don't buy DA2 till its price halves. Buy one of the older RPG's. You'll have much more fun, and it will last much longer. Which RPG? ANY! This thing is not a roleplay experience

In many cases, I do believe reviews DO get paid by publishers, but not in this one.

Never trust a review by a company that SELLS the game... ;)

Edit 2 : Now this.. just wow..
Best RPG I have EVER played, and I probably played every possible RPG ever made, honestly, every RPG fan MUST try this
Since when is Mario Kart an RPG, and also the only one that was ever made?
P.S. I apologise all Mario Kart fans for my offending words

Ah, also

- Do not expect to have to reload the game even once. Are you a first time DA player? No problem. Is this your first real-time game? No problem. Have you never before used a computer? No problem.

I've had a tougher time with "Let's name the animals with Barney"

If EA/Bioware starts offering DLC that presents "...the thrilling continuation/conclusion of the DA2 story", I would suggest those who have purchased the game file a class action lawsuit.

You have a reasonable expectation to have a complete story in a game you pay $50 to $60, and not be nickle and dimed to death just to have a complete game.

Honestly, I don't think you'd have a case. There is no expactation when buying a game other then it has to work. Heck Max Payne 2 had a campaign that was like 2-5 hours long.

And honestly, anyone who bought this game and didn't realize that there are going to be DLCs (there were previews for one before DA2 even came out) hasn't done their research on EA.

EA is a master in releasing massive amounts of DLCs for just about all of their successful games. Sims, ME1 and 2, heck even Spore. Most of them useless, but people seem to be buying them anyways. I'd wish they would just realize that DLCs are bad 90% of the time and if they want to throw money away they should just give it to me. I can put it to better use.

Could anyone who has received and installed the Signature Edition comment on whether the extra content is burned into the disc or if a downloading code is provided? If so, how big is the download for the whole thing (I expect the Exiled Prince to take up the most space)?

On a more on-topic note: 15 hours of gameplay with side-quests sounds pretty miserable, even if we already knew this was shorter than Origins (which took me about 80 hours to complete). Are you sure there weren't any companion/other optional stuff you skipped in favor of the main campaign? Also, thanks for the heads-up regarding the low difficulty, I usually set it to Normal in story-driven games so as not to halt my progress and spoil the mood but it seems that I am going to make an exception with this one.

It didn't cost as much though. Also, it was one of the reasons that no one liked Max Payne 2. Which forces me to ask : What are you trying to prove, Ares2382?
And honestly, anyone who bought this game and didn't realize that there are going to be DLCs (there were previews for one before DA2 even came out) hasn't done their research on EA.
It is still a ripoff.
thats quite an harsh statement you give there, i just started the game and im quite interessted in the story development so far and im thrilled that DAO comes back to "haunt" us, i dont expect much game changing routes but a little different lore is a nice tweak too.
Just play the game till the end.
so your resume is basicly i wantz the hardmode mods ?
I don't care what you "basicly wantz". These were my comments about the game, you are free to disagree with me.

I don't really want a game to be too hard, like - for example - Ninja Gaiden.
But Dragon Age 2 is just like Assassins Creed 2, where you could annihilate entire armies of guards by mashing one mouse button and dodging every now and then. I dont find that entertaining. Both games have their moments.. well.. Assassins Creed 2 was awesome.. But if you have no challenges ahead of you, it kind off kills the moment.
dlc where never hard at all, although i really liked witch hunt
Golems on Nightmare were challenging at times. The room with 7 golems at least.

There is no expectation when buying a game other than it has to work.
This is a joke right? If that was the case every company that's produced computer games would have been embroiled in law suits non stop for the last twenty years. I haven't played a game since ...... well forever that didn't require at least one patch to make it work as advertised. Indeed the only reason I'm writing at this moment is because I just had a CTD when playing an unmodded, but patched, Fallout 3!

This here is just bull....

"Customer doesn't like a game?"
"Ban customer from playing any games that require internet authentication that he previously bought"
"EA wins"

What bothers me however is the response he got from Bioware. EA i expected to be nutbars, but when did Bioware get corrupted on such grand scale!?

"It's in EULA. Point 9 and 11. End of line." (translation : "Die in a fire")

This doesn't even seem legal!

I liked Max Payne 2 - admittedly I wouldn't have spent 50 euros on - I found it short, predictable with an enjoyable narrative.

The 'Customer' didn't say he didn't like the game - he accused EA of selling its soul to the Devil (Which seems unlikely as that would mean selling stocks to Activision.) Someone took exception on the Forum, hit the report button - could have been anyone on the forum, whether an EA rep, a Bioware moderator - or a complete ******* that thought it would be funny to get someone banned fromt the site - or someone who really hates trolls (fire and acid are more effective in this case.)

I dunno, Golems of Angarrak had its moments, especially if you had an unbalanced party - i.e playing it without a Mage and with a PC who was a Melee Rogue who can't use Bombs for crowd control as it will crash to desktop, was a pretty big handicap.

For challenges in DA, I recommed the Quests and Legends Mod - it is utterly ruthless - when the easiest opponents are Ogre's you know its gonna be crazy! The battles are Epic with little respite, my party went through 126 stamina potions (added by another mod) in 3 encounters.

He got banned from using single player games that require internet authentication for something he wrote on a forum.

The next step will be public executions of people who edited savegame.

This is EA Stworca, the computer game equivalent of the New York Yankees (i.e. The Evil Empire), what did you expect, honesty? They are scum have been for decades, it was inevitable that once they got their hand on Bioware that thing would go this way.

I'd hoped that Bioware may have retained some integrity long enough for DA:O to come out before they got irreversibly contaminated, and they almost did. I certainly didn't hold out any hope after that though, and didn't buy anything post DA:O, and certainly won't be buying this. Just knowing I still have an EA product lurking in my flat's embarrassing enough!

Ban him from the forums, fine, it's their forum and that's their choice. But that ban keeps him from playing his games? that is so wrong I can't even begin to articulate it.

They are forcing him to use cracks. Considering EA's rather draconian attitude towards DRM, isn't that a bit ironic?

Not that, this is wrong. Those douchebags tell us to crack their games.

Suddenly i feel like people who put torrents of their games are modern Robin Hood types.

Assuming that he would sue them, is law on his side? Can an internet forum EULA really justify taking away something that someone has bought?
Ofcourse he wouldn't win the case ,because EA would bribe the **** out of every single possible person, plus hire twenty lawyers.. but still, i wonder if the law is on their side here?

Back to the original Topic, I must say that I disagree, almost entirely. I've played nearly 20 hours, and still haven't yet gotten to the Deep Roads (via the Expedition).

I'm not saying it's hard, but I've found so many side-quests that poor Maria Hawke (Mage/Spirit Healer) has been resembling something like a chicken with it's head cut off, running here and there and everywhere..... Not found Isabelle, and am Level 10... Aveline will be city watch Captain soon, tho. I wonder if I should offer congratulations, or comiserations? Her expression showed that both would be rather appropriate...

Only 1 reload, tho. I didn't like how the last quest with the Red Iron dude panned out, so I went back and tried the other way. I can still get quests from him, at least, so that's good. (I saved the other Red Iron Dude, but let the Mark get away, so he could help Ferelden. Telling him that doesn't go over too well....)

Anyways, It's actually been rather fun.
