DA II Issues?

Post by Ragin Cajun »

Had to replace my CD drive and did that today. Installed game. Hit play and game died.

Went to the Bioware site...OMG, appears that some people have been trying to get the game installed since release with no luck.

When I hit Play, I get a loading bar and then an error window saying "Dragon Age II Configuration Utility has stopped".

Anyone else see this? I've got the updated video drivers.

Running on Win Vista 64-bit.

Well, to update. Got the latest driver, the beta which actually states addresses some DAII issues.

Tried some of the workarounds because the drivers didn't fix the issue.

Running as admin I now get an error that states can't run due to some admin compatability issue. Found a 44 page thread over at Bioware on this issue. Appears that three weeks after release Bioware still has a ton of buyers that are using this game as a coaster for drinks at present time.

Try to run DragonAge2Config.exe from your game folder(as administrator),update directx, install the beta patch and the hi-res texture patch, try to reinstall the game as administrator(after uninstall). No other idea

Did the game work before you replaced your DVD drive? Did you try launching the game directly rather than using the launcher?

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"

I have started this game twice. Very taxing on my patience since it goes so slow I can send hawke into one direction go down fix a drink and get back upstairs and he still isn't there. Now I can't figure out the stupid way to use the map. Never thought of using it for a coaster but that is a thought.

No SW...the game has never worked. I've tried auto run, and running as admin and launching directly from the installed files. Haven't checked the bioware site lately so actually heading over there to see if any new patches might have resolved issues.

Game Setup

I bought the game April 23 and still haven't been able to load it. I installed it the day I bought it and when I hit "Play" I got the message "There is a problem with your setup. Please reload the game." At EA's instructions I uninstalled the game, and re-installed it. Same error message.

Then EA said they would give me their download program and I could download it directly from their site. So I did that. When I launched the game I got the message "Launch failed" followed by "There is a problem with your set up. Please reload the game."

I have been swapping e-mails with EA for a week. They keep telling me to try different things. After a week of this I get the message "Unfortunately this is a known issue and we are currently working on getting this resolved for you our valued customer."

I asked them what I am supposed to do with this game that I purchased but can't play. I'm waiting for an answer.
