Problem with Fun With Pestilence

Hi,

I've managed to kill Brother Kanker (although he hasn't dropped any leaflet). I turn the wheel in the pipes to open the sewer grate. The one in Brother Kanker's chamber opens, but the one at the other end of the tunnel is closed. I've tried turning the wheel twice and even three times, but no joy. I've also tried exiting then reloading the game, but nothing. How do I get out please?

Ok, there should be 2 wheels that are the all the time, then a switch for when the battle is done. Flip that, and the gate opens.
