Question regarding Shadowkeeper

Post by Teaboar »

I've almost never used Mazzy, mainly because I don't like her weapon proficiencies and now I'd be interested to change them with shadowkeeper. The thing is that I can't seem to figure out how to do this mid game. I know how to do it by using the CRE file, but Mazzy is already in my party so that probably wont change anything, right?

I'd just want to know if there's a way to change her proficiencies in my current game, if that's even possible?

You can edit savegames too with shadowkeeper. Save game as, for example, "edit mazzy", load it in SK, save as "edited mazzy", load in-game, and enjoy.

Yes this is possible.

-Start Shadowkeeper and File -> Open Saved Game.., the save you want to edit.
-Use the slider below your character portrait to select Mazzy.
-Go to the proficiences tab (about halfway) and set the number on any weapon(style) to 0-5.
-Save your edited save, it will automatically make a new one and add (Edited 0001) to the name.

You can now load this game in BG2. I've never had any problems with Shadowkeeper and Ascension, but you'll probably want to keep the amount of edits to a minimum if you're using a lot of mods.

When you open SK, under the "file" menu you can choose "open .cre file" or "open saved game". If you choose that, SK will show you a selection of your savegames, but not quicksave. Only regular saves can be edited there.

Once you open a save, you can edit most aspects of a character, including proficiencies, using an easy, comprehensible interface.

However, some changes can lead to crashing the game, such as - interestingly enough - choosing an "inappropriate" hair colour for a character. I tried this way back with Minsc, trying to give him hair the same colour as his skin, ('cause his bald). Didn't work.
That's why SK will always save an edited file in a different slot, so no worries, you're not going to lose anything.

EDIT: ah, symultaneous posting... :D

Thanks a lot for the replies. I didn't notice the slider earlier, but I've used shadowkeeper before on my main character so other than that I knew what I had to do. At the same time I had the chance to change a portrait which I had made too small, and now I'm happy. Thanks again for the help, I appreciate it.
