LoL, wow that does sound like a nasty combination. I'm thinking of running the game with a solo assassin but trying to do it from a more role playing perspective. I was going through different bows and crossbows and totally forgot about darts and throwing daggers. That is very very cool. Thanks

Well, you better wait for Cren. He's the assassin-playing guy and he'll give you a better advice on them :)
I just pointed out what i tend to use. Poison Daggers are non magical, and thus go through PFMW easily, for Mantle/ Imantle you'll have to use +3 / +4 stuff.

Flatterers! The lot of you!

Ideally, the fastest way to spread poison to a group of enemies would be by firing a Frag Grenade from the Big Metal Rod, but since you most likely did not start in BG1, that option is currently unavailable.

Since area of effect attacks from weapons can apply poison to anyone affected, the best items would be the Arrow of Detonation and the Sunstone Bullet. Now, since they are of a limited quantity, let's skip to endless weapons, for which, in my opinion, Crimson Dart +3 takes the cake. Why? It's incredibly easy to get and starts you off at three attacks per round, which will become four attacks per round with the Gauntlets of Extraordinary Expertise, and this is without any buffs, since technically you should have three to six charges of Improved Haste (which doubles your attack speed) from the Ring of Gaxx.

Why not the Tungian Bow or the Boomerang Dagger +2? Well, because while the Boomerang Dagger +2 does more damage per hit, it has one attack less per round than the dart and while the Tungian Bow does match the Crimson Dart +3 in attack speed, AT BEST, your limitless resource of arrows will be +1 in SoA and +2 in ToB. The highest possible arrow modifier (limited resource) is +3.

Note: Cloak of the Stars can make six +5 darts per day.

For Protection From Magical Weapons: Use the Asp's Nest darts. They are limited, but they apply poison and should pass through such protections. If you're looking for fun, there are a few other darts with additional effects (such as the Dart of Stunning and the Dart of Wounding).

If you're looking for something more magical, you can always use a scroll of Melf's Minute Meteors (with an offhand weapon) to apply your poison in a rapid and fiery manner.
“The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially.”

Wow, thanks a bunch o master of the thief:mischief: I'm getting ready to finish a run through using a fighter/thief. Now this character is pretty bad ass but it feels more like a warrior than sneaky thief which I miss when playing the assassin. Over the my past few posts you've given me some wonderful insight on playing this class more effectively. I'm like you in that I want all my thieves to be mainly backstabbers and I think the assassin is really really good at that. Thanks again and crimson dart here I come :)
