Strange kotor bug

Post by RVPERTVS »

Hi to all, I found this site just recently, and it´s been really helpful so far, this would be my first post, so here I come: I´m going through KOTOR for the first time (on xbox) and I´ve stumbled upon this particular bug I haven´t found any soulution for yet and I haven´t found anything about it on the web neither :

I´ve just made it to Malak´s room for the first time but it´s empty! The room exists but with no Malak or captive jedis in there, somehow they won´t trigger, and once there I can´t go back, I just get stuck in an empty viewing platform. I´ve reloaded several times doing things differently (like killing and not killing bastilla, finishing her and not, disabling generators on the next room and not doing so, etc) but the result is the same. I´d like to believe that Malak simply chikened out on me just to avoid getting frustrated about it :o

I have no idea what might have triggered this issue, I´m thinking maybe one of these factors:

-I´m a LS character with just one single DS action in all the game (on tatooine persuaded novice swoop racer into signing hutt´s contract just to get money for the robot)
-Juhani is part of my team
-I ended korriban and left sith academy but couldn´t trigger carth missing son quest though carth´s quest appeared as completed.
-Started Leviathan as Jolee.
-Bastila was left behind on the Leviathan with dark jedi master robe.
-I left some of my NPCs with uplevels pending by the end of the game.

The game is running on my HD if that´s relevant (which I don´t think so) Other than that I have no idea, just wanted yo know if you´ve heard about it or if any of you guys happen to know any walkaround.

Thanks in advance

It looks like your game bugged out. You may have to resort to loading a previous save to get it to work.

Hey! I'm sorry to hear about your dilemma. I recently replayed kotor on my original xbox from a disc and didn't encounter any problems, just thought I'd say that many of the factors you think may be probably aren't causing the issue since I made the same choices (appart from Jolee, i went as Mission on Leviathan. Oh and I may have made more than DS choice as LS character but I know I made that guy sign up with the hutt).

Sorry I can't be of anymore help, I hope you get it sorted soon :)

Problem solved

Ok problem solved, I tried today with a GOTY edition (got very lucky and found it today almost new for 9.99) and Malak was there as expected using the same save file, game finished without incidents. Great game BTW. My first disc should be bugged somehow, didn´t experienced bugs other than that though. I believe this closes this thread, thanks for all your replies.

Regards

KotOR 2 is better a written game, like most Obsidian productions, however, like most Obsidian productions it's very buggy. KotOR 2 also has the added bonus of having been rushed out before they could finish it properly. The "ending", such as it is, really stinks.

The PC version has the advantage of the "Restored Content Mod". While i haven't played the mod all the way through, I've heard it does wonders.

Thanks man, I´d rather play it laying on my coach than sitting on my desk, but now knowing how a bug could ruin your game, I´ll look into that, don´t want no bug chickening any sith lord away from me this time ;)

Keep Cool
