Something funny i noticed...

Post by Syrahl »

(Made an account just to say this)
I just started a new game and I went to get the stuff of the crazy mage near seyda neen with the icarus flight scrolls. I then went and sold all his stuff at the pawnbrokers near Balmora. The shopkeeper then promptly put the clothes that I had just sold her on.

It's nothing gamebreaking, it's just funny.

I can remember most of the merchants ending up wearing Dark Brotherhood armour after how many I had to kill in Tribunal

What happens when you buy the clothes back?

If they are wearing the clothes/armour you can't buy them back, so be careful about what you sell.

Eventually the merchants, especially the ones in Mournhold, will all be wearing Daedric armour!

I never sold Daedric, I had some mannequins in my home wearing those :P
didn't much like the looks of the Brotherhood armour though so I sold those. on at least one character I tried to sell every set to a different merchant

Yep, it is a bug in the vanilla game. If you sell a piece of armor to a merchant, then they start to wear it. Luckily some modders have made a patch for this.
It's already featured in Unofficial Morrowind Patch from Thepal and in it's successor Morrowind Patch Project from Quorn. The later one is more or less a continueing of UMP, since Thepal hadn't updated anymore.
There is also a seperate patch called Fashionable Merchants, but if you use the unofficial patch this isn't needed anymore, since it is included. I would highly recommend to use the unofficial patch, since it fixes so many other things, like some telvanni quests. And also grab Morrowind Code Patch, which fixes things with the code. MCP also makes the savegame system more stable.

Whilst I agree with the recommendation of the patches, I don't see this feature as a bug. After all if you lived in a violent world, where death stalks the streets on a regular basis and you acquired a better suit of armour, wouldn't you wear it?
