disappointed/stuck early/need help

Post by sixof1 »

Disappointed because:
-Amazon took forever to deliver the collectors edition
-whoever designed the packaging didnt allow for it to travel half way around the planet.. the statue suffered chipping.

I'm also disappointed with some of the changes, for example cat potion.. supposed to help see in the dark, by making your pupils wider, worked well in the original but now its been replaced by infrared vision. Its not the same thing. The original inventory etc were also much better.

The game so far its more cut scenes than game play, i hope this changes soon but unfortunately im stuck.

The dragon on the bridge, according to some (walkthroughs ive been forced to find) requires the hitting of the right mouse button when it flashes on the screen. It doesnt show on the screen, and even when i restarted and came in with easy mode, the same result, nothing on the screen and in a couple of seconds im dead.

Its not my hardware (Athlon phenom 4 core, large sata drives, 8 gig ram, Nvidia GTX560 with 1 gig mem)

So could someone assist me by telling me where it flashes, or what it times to.. ie the head swing of the dragon as this is very frustrating. I have to agree with someone in another forum who stated that easy mode simply wasn't.

Anyway, thanks in advance

You should send a complain to Amazon. It's not developers fault if Amazon fails to use delivery methods that would have ensured the safety of the package. It's either Amazon or the delivery company who should give you recompensation. Also, the delivery time is dependable on several things:
1) The distance. As I take it, the package traveled half around the planet. Such thing will take time.
2) They may have ran out of packages to send. Did you preorder it or just bought it after release? Especially in the second case they very well may have ran out of copies for a moment, which delays the deliver.

Out o curiosity, define word "forever".

Well, you are right in that it's not the same, but I think the new system is better. Matter of opinion of course.

That will chance when you leave the prologue. It will resemble the first came more quite soon.

Okay, I used normal difficulty and the flashes were there. IIRC there were three of those in that difficulty. First two comes when you reach the widened sections of the wall, look for the area right side of the wall to find the flashing. It's brief, so if you don't see it immediately you may miss it totally, but it's definitely there. The last one comes when you reach the end of the wall.

Just a thought, but have you installed the latest patch? Not sure if this is bug that was fixed at some point, but at least in my 1.2 version of collector's edition for PC the hints were there.

Thanks,

Forever equals 2 days ago is when the game arrived. Amazons limited tracking showed it stayed in 1 city for 8 days. The game was pre-ordered.

Where on the screen approximately does it flash?? I get the cut scene end with the King being supported by Geralt, then the Dragon approaches fast with the first of its head swings killing both.

And i was blaming the designer of the packaging, there are no marks on the outside box but the internal molded section is what failed. It is the 21st century and you would expect they would know he game would be sent around the world. The value of a collectors edition is lessened with damage :( .

Yeah, I understand that you got annoyed, though delivering across the world may take some time. Haven't dealt with Amazon personally ever, but here are few things that could have affected the delivering time:

1) Customs. I have several times experienced that a game, music cd or DVD was caught by custom, and even though there was nothing illegal and I didn't have to pay extra it just took extra time. Customs tend to be like that, it really depends on the country. This is especially true if the package is coming from US or Asia.

2) Mistakes in local post offices. Not perhaps in your country but in some other country through which the package came. Understaffed, simply mistakes or something else may have caused the delay. Happened to me once.

3) Amazon just ran out of copies when they were sending the preorders. Shouldn't happen but who knows. Was your package sent when it was meant to be?

But generally, I suggest, if you want, to contact Amazon about the delay. Worth of shot, especially if you have any kind of receipt indicating when you got the game. At least here in Finland you get such receipt just for such cases.

IIRC look straight right from Gerald and king, just outside the walls. Not in my gaming computer at the moment but if you still need help with this when I am I can always post a picture.

Also, as I have no access to the game at the moment so can't be sure, but you could check if there is some option that has disabled the hints.

Was the package itself damage or just the content? In case the package itself was damaged as well you should contact Amazon, as it's their responsibility to ensure that it reach destination in prime condition. And even if the package is well designed it never ensures that it can't be damage by unprofessional handling. Trust me, I worked in post for few months once, I have seen how packages can be handled, and that's not always pretty.

If the package was fine but the content was damaged only then you should contact the developers. It may very well be that you were just unlucky and got content that shouldn't have been sent. May happen especially when companies are dealing with huge amount of orders in short period of time.

I don't know how either party would compensate the damaged content, but basically they should as you got flawed package which doesn't match what you ordered. Worth of shot nevertheless, if you feel to do it, as you should be able to contact both parties with e-mail, so there is no extra cost coming to you. It only means you have to find a time to write that/those mails.

But still I can assure you, the game is very, very good, when you get to first chapter. :)

Thanks again,

12-14 hour work days with less sleep than i would like wasn't exactly helping the situation :o

So now i continue ...

as for the packaging, closer inspection shows the original box, not the packing/transport box is the one that suffered the damage.
I will let Amazon know of the situation, but they have no chance of me sending it all back to wait for a replacement
