Stat Question - PLEASE HELP!!

Post by Enteva »

Hello, I have a really important question to ask and I couldn't find this info on any of the guides I checked.

I was checking out some character builds and I found a description for a strength build that I really like, despite the negative aspects to it.

With my current layout, in order to achieve the strength build I want, I'll be needing to remove some points from my charisma to get the ridiculous 18 base strength. This will put my charisma to 8.

My question is this: will the -1 modifier from my 8 charisma affect the FORCE POINTS I get per level from charisma? In other words, will I be getting only 3 FP per level as opposed to my default 4 FP?

In addition, this build is a very specialized build I realize that. I have one other question. For a combat focused character, is wisdom and charisma really all that important? All I want to do is be able to cast a few force moves per fight without having to worry about buffing my group or healing (I'll have others do that). I'm thinking of going 10 Wisdom and 8 Charisma.... would that be ok for this? I honestly don't see how I'd be at such a huge disadvantage.

I really need an educated answer, I kind of want to start my game tonight and I can't find this information so now I'm totally doubting myself.

Yes, CHA influences FP per level. It also lowers your DCs and your Pesuade, so on the whole, I wouldn't lower CHA to 8. Especially on the long term the benefits of 18 starting STR aren't that great. 10 WIS only leaves you with a lower Will save & Awareness.
If you want a pure "Warrior" Jedi, you could do it, though, but it will be pretty one-trick-pony-like.

Thanks man, that really helps me out.

One last question... would my grand total of 120 FP be horribly gimped? I do not care too much about force powers, would 120 be enough for a few moves here and there and the odd buff, what kind of play-style are we talking there? I just want a ball park answer if possible.

... and one FINAL question lol: are wisdom modifiers retroactive? If I get an extra bonus in wisdom, will that be applied to my FP gain as if I had that extra bonus in wisdom all along (per level)?

Thank you! This is making me reconsider 18 str now haha

Yes, WIS & CHA bonuses are retroactive to FP.
120 FP would be a tad on the short side, I think. Master Speed and maybe Valour are minimum buffs, and the occasional Heal... Especially long fights (common near the end) will be tough.
We're talking about a "whack, whack, whack" playstyle. You don't have the FP nor (minor) DC increases to try something slightly more tactical like Whirldwind.

It's perfectly possible to complete the game without significant use of Force powers; the only ones that are really any use if you are playing as a saber-weilding melee Jedi are the Speed ones, and possibly Heal if you're LS (though you can get other characters to do this later in the game if necessary)

You might have a bit of difficulty in the early stages of the game if your DEX is low, so save often.
