Virgil is cursed HELP!

Post by onizuka88 »

Hi,

I've been playing Arcanum for a month now and I really was carefull not to give any unidentified weapons to my NPCs but somehow Virgil came into possession of what later I discovered the Inferno Hammer. Apparently it was cursed because now Virgil's DX is 1!!! (other possibility is that he might receive a curse from a trap in some dungeon area and I might haven't noticed that - yes I know - stupid).

I'm playing a tech character and magical vendors don't really want to talk to me. So...

Is there a magicall scroll to find, a person to whom I can go to? Is there anything I can do to take that curse from Virgil?

Note:
On all my saves Virgil has this curse.
I became attached to Virgil and I don't want to leave him behind.
Progress it the game: Just visited Bates.

Please HELP!

Unfortunately, while cursed items are SUPPOSED to revert any lost stats if removed, a number of such items have a glitch. Sometimes this works in your favor (for example, the Dark Helm
Spoiler
gives you a permanent +20% MA for an equal hit in alignment, each time you remove it and put it back on
) but as you found out the hard way, oftentimes not so much.

I know of no fix for a game already in progress; before you start a new game, make sure you have the latest official patch (1.0.7.4) installed, and then download and install Drog Black Tooth's unofficial one. The following link should lead you to it; if not, google it up for yourself.

Unofficial Arcanum Patch (Original Thread) :: The Codex Forums

And it's always good advice not to let a follower carry unidentified magic items, as they can 'sense' how valuable they are, and will often equip them to their own detriment.

Hope this helped, and good luck.
Speak softly, and carry a big stick. Or better yet: a big, sharp blade. :D

Thanks, but... :)

Thanks!

I will be more careful from now, that's for sure.
But I think I'll just keep going :) It's much more difficult but hey! It's still worth playing :)
Now I'll protect Virgill!
