Ads Quietly Added to Deus Ex

Post by Solaries »

Do NOT buy this game!

They've patched in real ads on to the loading screens.

As consumers in a free market our money is the only thing that corporate *******s will listen to. By all means, steal the game! I'm sure it's easy to find a torrent. Those of us who've already payed for it can find a link to an ad-disabler of sorts in that link.

The ads are shown as a small bar at the bottom right of the screen so I don't see what the big deal is. It's not as if the ad is emblazoned all over the whole loading screen, let alone even cause loading problems whatsoever.

Not buying a good game because of small ads in the bottom right corner of loading screens that you hardly see longer than 5-10 sec is a bit extreme. Disable them if you want to but I think most people won't bother and simply ignore them.

I don't agree with in-game ads either, but you lost me there. If you don't like something, don't buy it. Anything else is theft, no matter how much you try to justify it with righteous anger.

I blocked DXHR on my firewall and play in offline mode. I haven't seen a single ad.

Is there a reason why there a two threads with the same topic, started by the same user?

I also noticed this as well but I have no idea why he did this. Maybe he wants to know the reaction of the different sections?

Sooner or later, it will get merged here or the SYM section by a mod with a redirect on either of the sections.

The ads don't bother me at least. Why would you avoid a very good game just because of small thing like that?

Also, Solaries, you might to recheck the forum rules as well. Especially the following...

Either I am oblivious or the ads don't exist on The PC version. Either way this "problem" has had precisely 0 impact on me. Of course the load times are so quick on my machine there is not much time to stare at a screen.

Either way promoting piracy to get back at them for posting an AD? get real.
