Stealth Question Bugged Me For Years

Hi All,

I've lurked here for over a decade and an old time favourite of the infinity engine games, and was thinking of running through them again.

I remember with IWD2 I always had a problem with remaining in stealth while enemies awere onscreen - my character would always fail the check.

Offscreen (no enemies present) was fine.

I tried raising to max value through cheats (Dalekeeper had skill at over 200 I think), but each round the check was made, my character would always fail.

Was I missing something?.

If memory serves (meaning I could be wrong), but at certain high values, the number would actually loop around to something low (at least it did in BG2), but here, you can't get your stealth skill above 33.

Anyway, some enemies (demons) can see through stealth.

Just to be sure - you leveled both, Stealth and Move Silently, correct? The first essentially lets you enter stealth and the second one helps you stay in it.

Also, you get a bonus to Stealth when you hide in shadows (as in a shadow of a tree or a house, or even at night), so it's something to keep in mind.

Thanks for the reply; I just reinstalled IWD2 to refresh the details, but can't get the cheat console working (enabled under configuration/probably keyboard issue) and can't locate savegames with dalekeeper (WIN7) as was hoping to duplicate it.

It's not really worth the effort - if it's not recognized by another (I'm assuming

experienced infinity engine gamer as a featured problem, then it was probably something dumb I was doing those years ago.

It's impossible to stealth in IWD2 when under observation. You have to stealth prior to combat.
