Okay,
My wife and I have defeated Irenicus and are now ready to take it to the next level. The problem is, I have two never-before-played ToB CD's, neither of which will properly install.
I can watch the movies and read the text files, but during the setup process it tells me to install the correct CD. The correct CD is of course in there because it had to be read to even start the setup process.
I've tried it on two computers with no luck.
Any ideas or suggestions?
Thanx in advance.
ToB won't install

Hmmm....
That you have tried to install it on two different machines with two different copies of the disc seems to suggest a problem with either the operating systems or the setup of the base game in each case.
I'm not sure how much of a difference this will make, but to narrow things down a bit for those more technically able than I am, which OS are you using, and do you have any third party mods installed?
Also, I've read with some other older games that if you are using Vista or Windows 7, it is better to not install them into Program Files. Though if this is the case and the vanilla game installed fine.. that wouldn't make much sense.
Maybe in your situation, I might try making a backup of my save game folder, uninstalling the game, and reinstalling it (assuming you are using Vista or Win 7) directly onto something like "Local Disk C."
You might even want to consider a save game backup and reinstall, regardless.
One thing you might try that has helped me in the past with quirky install issues is CCleaner. I've found running the general cleaning application and the registry cleaner function can resolve odd problems. I am always cautious about using any registry cleaner, but CCleaner's has never caused me any problems and it also prompts you to make backups first just in case.
Finally,
not to outrule the obvious, are you ToB discs clean and free of scratches?
Hopefully this will at least get you started anyway.
Good luck!

Thanks, DW!
I copied your comments to paste and print so as to have a guide. On the off chance, I put in the ToB disk "one last time" and lo and behold, it worked! I'm not sure what the problem was but I do remember doing a complete system shutdown just prior to reinserting the CD. Some tron somewhere must have been out of whack and got put back in its proper place on the reboot.
Our "old" party is imported and we're getting ready to kick some more butt.
Thanks again for your quick response and advice!!
