Keldorn bug?

Post by Drayen »

So, ive completed the game a few times already, but this is the first time i clear BG1 and export my BG1 character to BG2.

I cleared all the sewers in the temple district, but i forgot to talk to the cleric at the temple of lathander for the quest, no problem there, keldorn doesnt spawn unless you start the quest, so i go get the quest, come back down... Keldorn is hostile, and doesn't attack you however. I tried using Ctrl + Q, but he gets stuck in a mode where he tries to dialog with the closest character available (Probably for his first speech), which makes him stop whatever hes doing every second, which is really annoying, i cant really play with this.. i tried dropping him, killing him and ressurecting, etc. Nothing works.

Soooo, outside of making a new game, i cant see what else i could do to have him at my side, any help?

This glitch isn't peculiar to Keldorn, it can happen any time scripted speech is interrupted. It's one of the weaknesses in the game that Bioware uses dialogue as a trigger far too often. Also trying to use Ctrl+Q on a hostile creature is always liable to have unwanted side effects.

As to your problem all I can suggest is going back to a save before you first entered the sewer if that's possible. Your problem can be overcome possibly by tinkering with the global settings in ShadowKeeper, but that's no easy task.

One possibility is to use SK whilst Keldorn is in the party and try altering his Enemy/Ally setting in the characteristics tab to PC.

Alternatively load a save without Keldorn in the party. If you haven't killed him try using the 'Edit out of party characters' under Tools, and change the same setting to Neutral. If you have killed him and but can still edit him, you'll also need to change the Sprite_is_DeadKeldorn setting under Globals to 0.

If you don't have a save before this mess was triggered then you could always do without Keldorn, he's hardly the most effective NPC available.

Alright i guess my game is just totally screwed.... i just ditched keldorn, i go to do haer'dalis' quest, and when i reach his troupe in the planar prison, Haer'Dalis isn't there, and his 3 friends are hostile, they talk to me about how we saved their lives, then ask what haer'dalis think.. but he isnt there, so the conversation ends, and they attack us, forever having me stuck in the prison :O. The last prisoner gnome that tell me hes happy we kicked the warden's ass was also hostile to me.

Reloading before the planar prison fixed it, but i have absolutely no clue why this happened twice... i probably just should remake a new game huh? Perhaps the whole mod install/uninstall messed up my game ;/, definitely wouldnt want to restart my game just to see the same thing happen.

I Figured out the part with the Haer'Dalis party... apparantly while changing the classes of the npcs i went with, i made jan a sorceror, and his selection of spells was quite bad.. so i gave him some spells of my choosing, incluing breac.. which apparantly affects all creatures in the zone. I have no clue how it bugged keldorn however.

I also appantly picked the wrong haste spell... gotta figure out which spells are the right ones i guess ;/

I have had similar problems in the past, and they all had to do with me playing a huge stable of mods- some of them clashing- and some of them having Breach turn everybody on the map hostile.

Careful selection and installment order of mods is apparently quite important. You should possibly look into that a bit.
