Drizzt and silver sword
Drizzt and silver sword
I`ve been hearing things about a guy called Drizzt in SoA, with lots of nice loot on him, but sofar I haven`t encountered him yet (I am in the Asylum). Is he a random encounter or will I have to go and look for him? And something else, I think I missed a piece for the silver sword, is it a sword you really need, or can you manage wiithout it? Thanks, Sjon
You'll meet him a long time from now, after you emerge from the Underdark (where you have yet to go). He has nothing to do with the Silver Sword, but carries a +5 scimitar. He's not supposed to be attacked (he's friendly), and you won't get to keep his loot unless you know how to deal with this encounter.

Well, I was in an EVIL party, and somehow Drizzt and his friends attacked me. It was a pretty hard battle though (as I wasnt prepared at all!!! with only a few spells to spare also!). But yeah.. you'll face him IMMEDIATELY after the Underdark, when you travel to Amn or anywhere else.
SPOILER.........
be careful.. coz he's fast and has a good AC. And some of his men are tough.
I have the Silver Sword but I never used it! haha.. I dun see the use, really.. there are much better ones later in the game. Anyway, I think the piece you are missing is the one in Brynallaw.. when you go on the ship.

Silver sword spoiler
If you leave the Island by ship you will be offered by Saemon the blade of the silver sword.
Once you are finally back in Amn's main city, and you have the silver blade on you you will be attacked by a group of Githyanki one of which has the hilt on him.
Has anyone else noted how rubbish the silver sword is compared to other TOB vorpal weapons, OK it has a 25% chance of vorpal strike as opposed to 10% for the axw of unyielding and the Raveger but the enemy get a saving throw which (at least against TOB opponents) they usually pass.

Yeah, an enemy needs to have a saving versus death worse than 10 for the silver sword to be more effective on him than ToB's vorpal weapons
This is because the saves are made at -2, so with a saving at 12, you have 40% of chance to fail, now, 25% * 40% = 10%

Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...
