my problems in the drow city!

I've run into a problem while in the drow city which is located in the underdark of the bg2 world. I've completed all the quests and retreived the silver dragon eggs but am unable to leave the city to give them back because of my detection by the drow, the locking of the main gate, and the eventual killing of all the drow. Does anyone know another way to get out?

Kill the Matron Mother, if she's dead and it's still not open, then you've got a bug.
