i've installed the Weidu Item Upgrade Mod and it does not work correctly. More specifically whenever I have one of the items required for the "ring of elemental mastery"

In my inventory, Cromwell or Cespenar will say "NO VALID LINKS OR REPLY" and the dialog screen will close. Furthermore, the ingredients for the Staff of Elemental Mastery (Staffs of Air, Fire and Earth) gave me the ring of Elemental MAstery (which should require the rings of Air, Fire and Earth Mastery).
Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this? I haven't tried a re-installation yet as I was kind of concerned that the items I've upgraded to date in my parties would disappear.
