I am currently a fighter lvl8 in SoA and am looking down the throat of dual classing into mage once I hit F9.
What I want to know is what will my limitations be once I take the leap into mage???
I have been a good boy and have a large stockpile of scrolls ready for the transformation, I just need to know the mechanics of it all.
1. What armor, if any, will I be able to wear?
2. Weapons? Dirty great swords? Bows? Should I take a proficiency in staff as soon as I can?
3. I have unusually high stats across the board (don't ask me how it happened...ahem), how will this affect things?
4. Do I just read all my scrolls and memorize the ones I can as a lowly lvl 1 mage?
Any other considerations??

1: None, if you want to be able to cast spells while wearing it. There is a Elven chain that a mage can wear (Asliferuns or Sylcan Chain(?)) but where you find it- no idea, I completely forget However the Robe of Vecna is reaaaally cool, and is sold by either Joluv or Deirdre. (expensive but worth it)
2: I would go for long swords, but its up to you
3: Probably going to make things easier along the way High intelligence means that you rarely get the "You have memorized your maximum amount of spells for that level"-message
4: yes, read away

Well, high STR means you will be able to carry much, and will not need to think before casting Melf's Minute Meteors. High DEX will give you a nice AC bonus. High INT will give you more spells per level, and a higher chance to learn new ones. And you won't really care about CON, WIS and CHA.Camshaft23 wrote:3. The only thing I have to say that differs from Camshaft23 is:Camshaft23 wrote:I am currently a fighter lvl8 in SoA and am looking down the throat of dual classing into mage once I hit F9.

2. Whilst you're a mage (which will be until level 10 if you dual at level 9 fighter) you will only be able to wield Staves, daggers, darts or sling. Once you reach level 10 mage you will be able to wield any weapon, your fighter proficiencies will then return.
