Holy Crap!

Post by dragon wench »

So for months I was unable to access GB's forums. I have no idea why, but I ended up with error messages whenever I tried.

Then on a whim, I just decided to make the attempt, and ... not only did I manage to log in and actually *see* the place.. but I discovered the format has totally changed (which may be why I can log-in again)..
The new look will take some getting used to, but.. it's really nice to be able to see the place again, finally. And that is actually the purpose for this rather random thread.

*waves*

EDIT

Oh, quick question too, how do I edit my signature now? It appears there are some coding issues that I need to fix. I checked in the "personal details" section of my account profile but I didn't see any options there and I can't find it anywhere else either.

Welcome back DW!

Yeah, the layout of the forum has changed quite a bit, and I really like it. For example all the unread threads don't turn up as read if I have been logged in long enough, a thing that annoyed me a bit in the old forum style.

I didn't get any error messages prior the update but I noticed that around the time when the change happened the forums were somewhat laggy. Don't know if it was because of the update or something else.

And yes, there are some things that don't work like they used to, for example the spoiler tags. I hope that feature returns some day.

Hiya Nyro,
thanks, and nice to meet you.

@Tricky,
I'm well enough, I suppose... ;) At the moment just taking a bit of time to enjoy my new and shiny graphics card... An Asus GTX 550 TI. Hardly the latest and greatest gaming card, but it's a huge upgrade after my old 8800 GTS from around five years ago :D The thing is amazing, barely exceeds 40* C, even after gaming for several hours, and runs everything extremely well, despite the age of my system and my "whopping" 2 GB Ram.
Hope all goes well for you too.

@Kipi,
Thanks! So far I think the new layout looks quite good... though I do agree, those spoiler tags were really nice. I still have no idea what was up. And the weird thing was, if I tried using an IP blocker I could actually view the forums. But, of course, I couldn't post, only the expensive, paid versions seem to let you do anything like that. (and I searched pretty exhaustively for a decent freebee)

Pretty good. I moved again recently, this time from Oslo to Lillehammer (I finally feel like I've moved to a different country). Still sorting out the mess. Not much to tell about that you can't read on my Facebook. Otherwise.. well, my thoughts on Parenting & Tuna might be put to practice soon.

Wow. That's the exact same graphics card I'm currently using for my machine after my GTS 250 kicked the bucket last year. Talk about coincidence. :eek:

And btw, welcome back. I also have been MIA for a few months if I recall. Been browsing mobile phone and video gaming related sites, playing Alan Wake and more recently, Max Payne 3. And I just recently purchased a new smartphone, the Nokia Lumia 800 during that period.

Although I'm late to the party, I'd like to welcome you back as well (although I'm not sure if it's appropriate given the fact that I haven't been here myself).

Life gets hectic, but I do have to say that it's very interesting to think (or for me at least) in terms of "where was I six years ago when I registered on GB and where am I now"?

Dragon Wench! I think it's almost been a decade since I first joined, and I pop in from time to time. And yours is a face I certainly recognize.

Today is the first time I've been able to log in since early July as well. it's possible I could have logged in last month, but I'd given up trying; I only tried today after following a GB tweet here. It's good top see some of the regulars are still here, Hi Guys n Gals
