[MMXII] Trial of the Ancient Elders

Post by swcarter »

Has anybody playing MMXII had any luck killing the elders in the Trial of the Ancient Elders? I went in with my character at level 15, but he can only hit the level 80 elder about 1% of the time. So I could kill him... if I wanted to waste about five hours swinging away. If the battle is more reasonable at level 20 or something, then maybe I'll come back later.

I'm guessing we were never meant to kill the elders in the original versions of the game, but still, this is yet another change that I don't really like.

Hopefully moon beasts are viable place to grind.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

I killed two of them with a friend. Took a little while though. Going to get some +strike heraldries/gear this time around and see what happens.

I killed some moonbeasts while hunting for a moonstone, but they only spawned one at a time, and I don't think they're worth as much experience now.

In that same game with a friend, 10 or more moonbeasts spawned at a time. (2 players, hard, more encounters)

Hey Moron,

(How many times do you get to say that without intending insult? :-) ) How are you finding multi? I'm holding off buying this version because I want to play it with my group, but I've read a few complaints that multi is as bug-ridden and unreliable as it always was, which would be a deal-killer for me.

Do the status effects still go away when you open your inventory? The original game status effects were so devastating that you need awesome block reflexes.

I've played up to the end of the trial of ancient elders. I haven't found any bugs that specifically affect multiplayer.

The inventory page doesn't pause the game any more, but you can bring up the save/load panel for the same effect. Which is a good thing, or else the battle against the vampire in the slums would be impossible.

IIRC, Emmindor's tower used to be a huge problem in multiplayer, so let us know if you get past that without any problems.

Haven't gotten that far yet, but the lift in the fargrove sewers used to be near impossible to use, as you would constantly fall through it. This is fixed now, as far as I can tell.

You can stock up on potions of bloodlust. It helped me in the CE.
