Backstab

Post by Dead Frog »

Howdy.
I was thinking about backstab with "Use Any Item" and started wondering what weapon types you can backstab with:
Dagger, Short Sword - of course.
Scimitar, Katana, other sword types - ?
Spear, Halberd, Axe - doubt it.
Blunt things - would be strange...

Anyway, does anybody know what you can use? And in that regard, what would (in your opinion) be the bast backstab weapon?

Any normal thief weapon Long,Short,Basterd sword, Katana, Scimiter(and it's friends), Club, Staff and Dagger.
All in all I'd say Staff of ram

Staff of the Ram indeed. If you're a fighter/thief, get specialization in Staff and Two-Handed Weapon Style. You can get backstabs doing 200+ damage. :D

In lieu of the staff of the ram, the staff of striking is pretty potent. I had a kensai/thief (dualled at level 23) doing over 200 damage with it as well. Have to recharge the staff periodically though. You tend to go through the 25 charges very fast.

@Jeremiah: That's why I consider the Staff of the Ram superior.

I am not arguing that. I was saying that if the Staff of the ram was not yet in the hands of the protagonist (considering having to wade thru level 3 of WK before even obtaining the +4 staff), staff of striking is a decent stand in (lieu) for the staff of the ram.

Two handed swords, unfortunately not, nice idea though if you were, say, trying to backstab a giant.
