Making a Turn based game with Baldur's Gate style art.
Hello
Need some feedback on my map making for a indie RPG game (Husband and wife team).
I will have all the game information out by Christmas (I hope).
I update my Blog daily with 1 map per day.

Looks absolutely gorgeous. You totally nailed the art style; I had to think for a bit on a few minutes to make sure they weren't ripped directly from IE games . I'd be thrilled to play a game with these graphics. I suppose my only feedback would be that the third image you posted looks a bit blurrier than the others (that is, it's more in the style of BG1 than BG2), while, in the last image you posted, the vertical lines on the rightmost object (is it a tower?) look a little manufactured.
Best of luck with your game, though. If the graphics are any indication, it should be fantastic. Honestly, since the release of Mount and Blade, I've got more faith in husband and wife indie developers than most big-name developers!

Thank you. Most of the maps are about 50-70 % done at the moment.
I need to spend a nice solid week updating the Textures. The game will use 2D maps just like the IE games
with 3D characters running over the top of them. The maps just need to look good because the game engine
will say were you can walk or not . Also the game will run on simple computers as well being a 2D/3D hybrid.
No need for a monster computer to run this game.
And how do you have this worked out, legally? Indie game or not, you are using content that is not your own.

I am confused?
I make all my own maps in Lightwave 11.
I get this all the time people recon I am using BG maps.
If you look at the BG maps some of mine make them look like indie art .

I don't know what the legal ramifications are of making something *look* like something else instead of directly using their assets. I imagine there are limits to what you can and can't do. As far as map design is concerned, I can only think of one precedent that does and yet doesn't really apply. When Troika Games made Vtm:Bloodlines, they wanted to copy several real-life locations into the game. Legally, getting the permissions to use those areas turned out to be a lot trickier than they thought, so they had to scrap several areas or redesign them to such a state that they no longer looked like the real thing.
I think it is worth looking into, Apexeon. Especially with the launch of Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition there is bound be be some renewed incentive among publishers and developers to 'protect' their intellectual property. It has happened before and it didn't always end well.

You know what, maybe I'm thinking some of these pictures look more like actual Baldur's Gate maps than they really do. I haven't played BG in some years now. At any rate, if that's the case, then I'm mostly overreacting.
