Changing Character's Portraits - Please Help!!
I have literally searched through every single file and can't seem to find where (and how) to change someone's portrait (i.e Aaerie, Jahiera, Nalia, etc.). And it's... making me want to throw a cat out of window. Please help!! (For the cat's sake!)
So, I don't know the direct answer to your question, but I have a very soft spot for cats, so I'll help.
What I'd recommend is you go tothis part of this forum, and try getting in touch with any (or all!) of the portrait pack makers to see how they did it. If you're lucky, and if the changes aren't too drastic, they might be able to make the changes for you, but I can't promise that (and hope that you'll spare the kitty in that case.)
Anyway, hope this helps!
No I did not perform an orgy, and yes I need tips on how to do this.
As far as I remember it's quite easy:
Step 1: Acquire the desired portraits you wish to use in the proper sizes - one small for the party portrait and one medium for the character sheet portrait.
Step 2: Rename said portraits as follows: N[first 6 characters of NPCs name]S or M depending on which portrait size it is.
Step 3: Move above portraits to your override directory in the game's install location.
Step 4: Enjoy your new NPC portrait.
Example:
I am currently using Jaheira's old portrait from BG1 because I think it looks better than her BG2 portrait and I have 2 bitmap files with the portrait in question in my override folder. File names are NJAHEIRS.bmp and NJAHEIRM.bmp .

N[charname]M for the large portrait, N[charname]S for the small ones. You just place the new portrait in the "portraits"-directory and it will overwrite the old ones. Simply delete that portrait to reverse it to the old one again. Make sure the portraits are in the correct format (BMP) and sizes (110x170 for the large, 38x60 for the small).
Furthermore, some chars with longer names use shorter versions of their name (for example NVICONM, NVICONS for Viconia), in order to find out what these names are you can use Shadowkeeper and click "change portrait" - and there's probably a list around, too, somewheres, if you search.
EDIT Override should also work, yes. /EDIT

Selinde Truesword- I am clearly deranged. Look who I travel with! Minsc, meet the Pirate Lord!
Minsc- Pirate Lord? Such a name does not conjure images of righteous behavior. Stand still a moment and let Boo have a look at you.
Desharik- Er, why is your friend pointing a hamster at me?
