An Easter Egg is a bonus-something, put into a game to refer to something famous, like a location, or an event, or a name. And it is usually put in the game for humorous reasons.Originally posted by Al Reyes:

In this case, the creators of Troika have likened the Isle of Despair to Black Isle, in a obvious reference to another famous company that produced the award-winning crpg, the Baldur's Gate series.

It seems a little close for a coincidence, don't you think, @Vicsun? Consider: what's the likelihood that one RPG development team, Troika, who has even had some of its members work (temporarily) with Black Isle, wouldn't know what they were saying? Think of how many other things they could have called it, like "Dark Isle" or even "Black Island?" It seems (to me) a pretty clear joke.Originally posted by Vicsun:

It's not really an Easter Egg, however. An Easter Egg is usually more elaborate. For example, in the Ultima VII spinoff, Martian Dreams (1991), there's a square indentation which is easy to miss in the desert-like terrain. But if find it and dig into it, you'd discover a pair of ruby slippers. Put 'em on the hero, click, and scenes of Kansas would appear.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

A quote from Etalis at TA's forum. I didn't put a link as per agreement but I would if I can. I'll inform Etalis though.
An Easter Egg is a hidden reference to a movie, book, or game in a game. Here's the ones I've found:
FALLOUT/FALLOUT 2 REFERENCES
1) Brahmin (2-headed cow) in H.T. Williams', Tarant.
2) Student at Tulla Gates (special quest) is wearing Power Armor
3) He's also carrying the "Gem of Water Purification"
4) WHen you first talk to Virgil (after the crash), select every line that sounds like you're telling him to go away. Eventually he'll say "Well how do you think this is for ME?! Here you are, the CHosen One- er, Living One...
MONTY PYTHON
1) Stillwater Giant quest leads you to a bunny in a cave surrounded by bones.
2) Magick aptitude 100+ SUccor Beast Spell gives you a killer bunny
If anyone finds another one, just add it.
