Question: Collecting Taxes from BlackRoot

Post by Ned Flanders »

Who else am I going to ask here at this point?

The question is related to black root and how king praetor from dernholm asks you to collect back taxes from black root. So you go there and the leader/alderman/whatever says they pay homage to tarant not dernholm. However, he could be persuaded to pay some of the taxes (or so it seems) if you could retrieve a knife of his from some thieves. Where are those thieves?

Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

@Ned, I hope you don't mind, but I altered your topic title so that the title would more accurately reflect your area of concern. I'm sure more people are reading this category than just me, and probably some of 'em have a lot more experience with Arcanum. They're not replying because they're just drunk, that's all. :)

As I recall--and it's been a month or more since I looked at the game, what with a vacation and work--the are in the NW quadrant. I'm not positive, but I recall this being the case. You'll run into a couple of scouts if you approach from the south, whom you should take out. If you cozy up to the leader, he'll offer you the opportunity to kill the frightened little wizard in the cabin for him; a good deal, if you're playing evil. In this particular party, I wasn't, so I agreed to his proposal, moved my characters in very close to his group, then let fly with a bunch of molotov ****tails at the leader. I was disappointed that I received no experience for hurting him, which seems buggy to me. I also reloaded after destroying his armor, since I think a simple molotov shouldn't be able to completely wreck anything that strong.

In any case, I took him out with a party of four, including the mutt and Sogg Mead Mug. Hope that helps.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

its a b**** go to the train, in the west. there is a trail, looks like it goes no where, get close to the shore on teh trail and youll realize the trail goes through the water to another part of land, take the right path on the other side, and then the left, there is the elf, a half ogre i think, a hlafling and a dwarf. if you want to kill them i suggest you get as far from the cam as possipable and kill the halfling as he wonders by. the half gore may jump you just after cause he walked close, but its easier than all 4. note i suggest haveing sogg from the first town, makes things easier. also if you have him the big enemy has large armor, for sogg.

Go north west. You'll see it in your map.
