A list of class quests?
A list of class quests?
Icewind Dale II contains some quests, dialogue and probably more that are restricted to certain classes. For example, only paladins can do the "graveyard" quest in Kuldahar, as far as I know.
However, I've never been able to find a complete list of all available quests in the game.
So, let's start one and see how much we can compile!
Note: I'm only thinking of quests here; i.e. stuff that nets you a reward in the game, be it items, experience points or something else.
I know that there are dialogue options only available to certain classes or races, but I don't remember any that "get" you a reward of some kind.
Besides the roleplaying, of course!
I'm also unaware of any quests that require the character to be of a specific race. But then, I've never talked to the duergars with a duergar character, or the drow with a drow.
If you know of some, please share!
Here are the ones that I remember (It's been a while). I don't remember most specifics, so please correct me or add anything that you know!
EDIT: I'll add quests from others in here.
Credit for the list goes to all the participants in this thread!
- Warriors (Fighters, Rangers, Paladins, Barbarians):
Quest: Talk to the training soldiers at the Targos palisade to give them some advice.
Reward: Experience points.
- Clerics
Quest: Talk to the training soldiers at the Targos palisade to bless them.
Reward: Experience points.
- Paladin:
As mentioned above, paladins can do the graveyard quest in Kuldahar to receive a holy avenger longsword.
(I'm not sure if a character needs to have more than one level of paladin to solve the quest. Also, I don't remember how you acutally start that quest.)
EDIT: As Scottg mentions below, any party can do this quest, but only paladisn receiv a +1 bonus to both wisdom and strength.
- Dreadmaster of Bane:
Quest: Killing Hiepherus at the Kuldahar pass.
Reward: Someone in the party will receive a +2 wisdom bonus.
- Sorcerer:
Quest: At the Wandering Village gate, you can talk to Pairi and give her some advice.
Reward: Experience points.
Anything else?

It might be easier to do this by way of elimination.
Race Drow.. Not that I remember.
General Wizard? No.
Demarch of Mask? No.
Btw, you can do the graveyard "quest" and get the holy sword without having a Paladin (assuming you survive the battle), but you won't get the quest bonus of +1 Strength & +1 Wisdom for the Paladin.
Edit: lot's of little opportunities for XP and items throughout based on certain requirements: skills/level, class and abilities, etc.. But very few that are actually *quests* with a particular restriction.
Ex. Using Turn Undead on the Spector in the Duergar torture room of the River Caves in chp. 3, obviously needs a competent Cleric with Turn Undead - but it's not an actual quest and it doesn't need a particular type of Cleric.

I don't exactly have the answer, but here's some places to start:

Thanks for the replies!
Looks like there've been other attempts at creating such a list, though they weren't very successfull, either.
Too bad! It's interesting that no one seems to know for sure, but there's lots of guessing and maybe-remembering around.
I guess that's due to the lack of popularity; can't imagine that something like this would have happened to e.g. Baldur's Gate II.

While Icewind Dale 2 is still quite popular, I think you're right.
Do you intend to accept the challenge? I'd love to have a definite list myself!
warriors (high BAB) can get xp in targos for spear teaching.
clerics in targos for preaching
high charisma for preaching in targos
drow of high intelligence get more xp from translating the dead body priest of Myrkus pets in Targos
sorceror gets something for the wandering village protoge
transmuter can make a benefitial potion in drider lair labs

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
@ Sage: Sure! Let's see what we can come up with!

Obviously, one could start a game with all kinds of characters too see what one can find, but I was hoping that the community here could chime in with their knowledge. That would make things a lot easier. For example, I've never completed the game with a Dreadmaster of Bane, so I'd never have known about their quest reward without the help from others.

@ Claudius: Great find. The "training quests" in Targos are something that I forgot about; I'll add them to the list. Can you elaborate what you mean by "high charisma for preaching in targos"?

Also, are you sure that a drow with high intelligence gets more xp for translating goblin? I' wondering because I know that e.g. gnomes get additoinal dialogue options for that quest (something like "my folk speak goblin, I'll translate"), but I never noticed that this nets you additional xp. If that's the case, that'd be neat.
If I recall you get a few hundred extra xp. Deep gnomes or gnomes may also get the bonus.
There is a group in targos where it should read high speaking skills (bluff or diplomacy). I tend to think it is diplomacy. You talk to the leader and then speak to the group.

I can't confirm this as I don't have the game installed atm, but if I read other threads correctly a bard can inspire the recruits in Targos much like the cleric can bless them and a warrior can train them. Can anyone confirm?
It seems reasonable to include skill checks as well as race/class requirements?
This Questlist includes skillchecks.

"[53LAB.DLG] Imphraili's Lab Alchemy SkillGT 9
Concoct a variant of the Sanguis Anima to transfuse into your own blood."
The biggest thing still missing is the Transmuter bonuses I reckon. According to what I've read you can get +5 hp if you have at least 9 alchemy as a Transmuter, but once again, can't confirm myself atm.

Haven't played this in a long, but I remember this:
1. Any character capable of healing can heal the first guy you meet in Targos docks (the one with the injured arm) for extra XP.
2. Clerics can turn the ghost of Viera in the Targos Tavern as an alternate resolution to her quest. Evil clerics (perhaps good and neutral too) can also seize control over her and demand her to shed a tear. This resolution changes the properties of her dagger (making it a cursed item).
3. Any character capable of healing can also heal the ranger in front of the Chimera's Fortress in chapter 1 for some XP.
4. Monks of (can't remember the orther) can pass through the Black Raven Monastery without having to complete the Eight Chambers.
Also there are some race-related dialogue options that give you extra XP. When you talk with an elf with the priest of Myrkul in Targos, you get extra XP for translating addtional amount of the dead goblin's words. If you use a drow for that purpose, you translate all the words and doublr the XP award. I think that half-orcs were also capable of translating the whole text.

Thanks for the input, everyone!
I think I remember that thing about bards at the palisade.
Majorman, are you sure about Nr. 4? I remember getting to that part with a monk of the old order and the quest-giver tells them that they still have to do beat teh chamber since they are not a black raven monk. I'd be surprised if that were not the case for the other two monk orders.
Re: That "speaks with dead goblins" quest:
I took a look into the game dialogue files and yes, it looks like you get different dialogue options for playing a character of certain races. It also matters if said char has a intelligence score greater than 15. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find out what the different rewards are (i.e. which races get more XP for solving that quest).
To be honest, I'd rather look into the game files than play through the game with every possible combination of race, class and attributes. So, if anyone knows exaclty where to look for the class (...) quests & rewards e.g. via Infinity Explorer, that'd be probably help a great deal!

I seem to have read that drow with high intelligence gets the most reward.
