Morvyn the Monk..

Post by Scottg »

This guy is in the Officer Tower (2nd level)..

Depending on party level he can be difficult, both having a high AC and all sorts of immunity's. (..though attacking him and the 2nd level isn't required)

Still, should you decide to attack him I learned something interesting tonight:

He is either:

1. An Outsider, or
2. Undead.

A Club of Disruption or the Hammer of Lucerne (assuming it "rolls" for the effect) WORKS!

Insta-kill that b@stard. :p

I believe all monks in 3.5 eventually become lawful plane outsiders, depending on their alignment. NWN2 and 1 only mimicked that by giving them a few more immunities around level 20, but they never changed your race. That's not right though and I think the NWN1PRC corrected that. I really should play the IWD series one of these days, it's the only DND pcrpg I haven't touched.

Tricky is right, at level 20, monks gain the "perfect self" feature, which means their creature type changes to "outsider.
To quote the relevant D&D rules:
At 20th level, a monk becomes a magical creature. She is forevermore treated as an outsider rather than as a humanoid (or whatever the monk’s creature type was) for the purpose of spells and magical effects.

So I guess Morvyn must be higher than level 20.
I've never played IWD2 far enough to reach level 20 with a monk. I wonder if player characters turn into outsiders as well?
One could probably test this by ordering any character with the Hammer of Lucerne to attack another character that has more than 20 monk levels on them.

Cool! :)

To bad Banishment wasn't incorporated as anything more than Dismissal part deux, otherwise you could use that on them (..and on fair # of demons in this game).
