Whats the most easy character-build for a newbie?

Post by Sloty1984 »

As the title says.
I want to play it through with my girlfriend.
What are the most important stats?

Which companions should We take with us?

Which patches and/or mods do you suggest?

Where can I find the best walkthrough?

Edit: I know iam asking about lots of different games but dont worry, i will play them all eventually!

Depends on play style - but if you only plan to play it once, then the most important stat is Wisdom. The nameless ones class can be changed throughout the game - but I enjoyed playing as a magic user most.

Companions - depends on how you want to approach the game. If you are interested in the game in terms of the narrative, then try taking all of them at various stages, if you are more into power gaming, keep the party limited to 4 to get more XP - but not make it too difficult later on.

The widescreen mod can be useful especially when playing on a laptop. You can find other mods at SorcerorsPlace.net and gibberling 3 (I think they have an unfinished business mod which is worthwhile).

The Gamebanshee walkthrough has served me well.

Dan Simpsons's walkthrough at gamefaqs.com is by far the most detailed source.
Qwinn's fixpack is near-mandatory.
As for classes: I played with a Mage, which hit lvl 7 & 12 as the first class, with some levels in Fighter & Thief. Also, for story purposes, it makes sense that you switch classes sometime.
Dakh'on, Annah, Morte, Fall from Grace and Nordom are my standard party. For story purposes (and this is PS:T, so no excuse!) take as many as you can, especially the first five. The combat is more than easy enough that you don't need the extra XP.
Stats: WIS, INT (especially for a Mage, but also useful in conversations.)
