Help with Ranged Weapon Build

Post by Sereth1728 »

The reason I wanted to use blasters in Kotor was a faq on gamefaqs where a guy made a scoundrel like Han Solo and took on malek in endgame with little problems whatsoever. He invested in dexterity and force speed during fight making him get extra attacks. From there whenever he faced jedi, he would equip a shield of energy (you get them for free from canderous) and with his boosts would just gun the enemy jedi down as they did nothing to minor damage.

I want to try that except instead of scoundrel, I will go with a scout. They don't have sneak attack but Scouts have more health, best saves in the game, implants of lvl 2 and 3 giving them boosts to stats and other perks. I was going to go with Jedi Guardian for mastery in damage for blasters of +2

It should work I just don't like it when games screw me over in endgame. Does anyone know if this will work? I think that with mastery of +2 damage that will make up for damage. I want to try this because I already beat the game 2 times with a lightsabre user and it was easy.

Does anyone have experience in this build?

I don't have experience in this kind of build, and I think it would work better in KotORII.
However, especially vs Malak, I don't see how Sneak Attacks would help, as you can virtually never pull them off on him.
Your main concern would be damage, indeed.
Which feat chain would you use? I'm (tentatively) going to suggest Power Blast, as the base damage of one attack isn't worth it to get an extra one with Flurry (or its ranged equivalent), despite this being the default Scout option.
Without saying: go for Two Weapon Fighting.

It can work, but it can also be tougher, remember Jedi can deflect energy blasts. It works much better in KOTOR 2, thanks to the ability to upgrade guns a lot more, to the point it can actually be as easy, or even easier, to finish the game with just blasters.

I endorse what Gawain said about two weapon fighting, rifles and the like just aren't as good in the long run. He's right about sneaking vs Malak too.

SPOILER (Highlight to read)

The key to an easy time against Malak is to get to the holding cells with the Jedi captives before he can and drain them yourself, they are all doomed no matter what you do.

You can also kill them off with several other powers, such as throw lightsaber(?) or force lightning.
