Multi-player problem

Post by Sailor Saturn »

Me and two of my friends are trying to connect to play BG2 multi-player. The first one is able to connect to me, but the third friend is having trouble. Whenever he tries to connect, he gets in, but is then kicked out a moment later. He gets this message: "This multiplayer session has been terminated."

Anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it? Thanks in advance. :)

Unfortunately this happens. One thing to check is that you both have the same game installation (ie if one has ToB then all should) also, that you have all downloaded the same patch - different patches cause a game version incompatibilty problem.

Another thing to try, is a different host...let your friend host a game. We have had this problem a few times...eventually the person gets in...also, if your friend has a slower connection, he may have been timed out joining the game... :)

None of us have ToB or any patches. We also tried having him host the game. I've got the slowest connection of the three of us, a 56k modem. He's got a cable modem and the other has DSL.

I think I might have figured out the problem, though I am still unsure. I think it's because his computer is on a network and logs onto the net through one of the other computers on his network. I was having the same problem when connecting to our other friend, but fixed it when I had my computer dial up instead of going through my dad's computer. But, even if that's the problem, we don't know how to fix it so his will connect to our computers. :(
