Post by Stilgar »

I want to play a Stalker, but with what weopons can he backstab?
Only with the thief weapons, or also with other weapons?
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

He can only backstab with thief weapons.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

This is mere speculation, and I have absolutely no abilities in editing what so ever, but I think that the programmers hardcoded it in the thief class and then gave the stalker the ablility to backstab, therefor only thiefweapons can be used to backstab. That would also take care of the UAI ability, so they didn't have to edit the class again in ToB - but this might be totally wrong, I realize.

Anyway, about the backstabbing, it seems strange to me that someone can backstab with a quaterstaff and not a bastard sword...

As long that you can use Katanas and long swords (not counting shorts or daggers) you've got plenty of choice: IMO going with dual wielding with Celestial fury and another nice swords of your choice (I tend to use Daystar for Valygar) is the best option (huge damage!).

And is he/she a good backstabber?
I know it isn;t a assasin, but s the damage worth the lack of armour?

I equipped him with Celestial fury and daystar, he was level 13 and once he backstabbed a mage doing 70 dmg: mage dead!
I think an assassins with right stats can deliver much more damage, but a stalker is a warrior (more hp, more thac0, more proficiency), has ranger spells (including find traps) plus some others (including "Haste!"), can hide in shadow and backstab, and regarding the armour restriction use the black dragon scale that is the best armour even for a thief!.
Obviously you still need a thief for lockpicking and disarming traps.
