Good and Evil plots?

Post by SexyElf »

I have only played BG2 once, in which I just completed it several hours ago. =)

Anyways. I completed it with a rep of 18, because I turned slayer once near the end. And had a majority of good aligned chars.

What I want to know is a couple things...

1) If you finish the game with a really low rep, will anything change? (Ie. Final battle, etc.)

2) If your entire party is chaotic evil. Does this have any major affects in game.

2b) Vise versa, if the entire party is lawful good.

3) Kinda off the topic of alignments. But if you have a romance going. And say so and so leaves your group for ingame reasons.
a) Does this affect your relationship. (Ie. Jaheria and the harper stuff)
b) If so and so leaves the party and doesn't return for sometime and in the meantime, you start up a romance with another char(if possible?). Would the game first allow another romance to start, and if so, if the first romance char were to rejoin the party. Would both romances continue?

1/ No.
2/ Yes and No. If by major you mean things costing 2 to 3 times what they might then Yes, otherwise no.
2b/ See Above only vice verse.
3a/ If a character leaves the party for a PLOT related in game reason (ie Jaheira and Harpers) it (generally?) does not effect the romance. If a character leaves the party because your reputation gets too high or low then it is like you kicked them out and this is a big relationship ender.
3b/ Unless you have a mod which allows it you can only have one romance active. So two timing is not possible. - Curdis !

SPOILERS

1: no, nothing will chance just because of low rep - except that the Paladins won't help you clearing out the vampires.

2: with evil ppl you have to keep your rep down for them to be happy. This not as easy as it sounds unless you kill some innocent in the streets once in a while, as almost every quest is good-oriented, and you're thrown rep-points everywhere you go.
There's one "quest" that stands out of course if you're evil, and stick to your alignment, and that's the Hell tests. Remember you were giving to options in each test?

2b: As for lawful good: This game is, as stated before, good-oriented, so it's really just to do everything as "you're supposed to". It's easier to play good in this game than to play evil - in my opinion. Not that there's a chance in the quests, it's just that it easier to imagine a lawful good person to help saving the little boys town without asking for a lot of money first, which he of course doesn't have. That kind of thing.

3: If any romance interest leaves the party, the romance stops and cannot be continued again.
Be advised that the computer thinks of a petrified character that's been rendered alive again as if thrown out of the party.
So, in short: Don't kick out the romanceinterest, don't let him/her be paralyzed, petrified or imprisoned. Dying is quite alright. of course...
