computer problem

Post by CatStarr »

I dont know if this is the right place to ask about this, but here goes ....I played Shadow of Ames and the game graphics were great...had no problem at all...now I have installed Throne of Bhaal on the same computer and my mouse does not have near the control that I had before. It is almost as if my mouse was dirty and not making a connection. I know that this is not the case. It only does this way in this game. I cant understand why it is doing this as I have not changed anything. But it is much harder to control what I want to do with my players this way. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
:)

Thanks!

Checklist:

1) Have you tried to defrag your harddisk ?

2) You DO have enought Diskspace for game-cache and/or Windows SWAP Files - do you ?

3) Have you installed the latest Patch ? (http://www.bioware.com/games/throne_bha ... t/patches/)

4)Have you tried to uninstall/reinstall the game ? (But remember to copy your "save" directory to a safe place first !!!)

hmm..I am running xp and I thought that it defrags itself, but I will try that. My system is a Intel P4 with a 2 gig processor, 512 ram and 80 gig harddrive..so I think that I have enough disk space. I will also dl that patch. Thanks for the link. I will let you know if it helped any. :)

If nothing else works you could always try Win 2000.
I don't like XP that much.... and since im running a simple lowly PIII - 500Mhz, with 40 Gig Diskspace and 458 MB RAM and haven't encountered one single problem yet I dare say that XP could be the source of evil....

yet - NO WORRIES !

well the computer is new and it came with xp installed, so i dont think i will be doing all the work that it takes to change systems just for a game.

Downloaded the patch and no help, so i guess I will just live with it. But it really makes the game not nearly as much fun.

Thanks for the help!

Now you've trouble shot it a bit I suggest you either update your mouse drivers (or change your mouse). I was using a genuine MS mouse and it was giving me some issues so I switched to a Logitech. It got rid of the problem. Why? I do not know. This is not an endorsement of LOgitech if your using a Logitech switch to an MS :) . - Curdis !

BTW - is it a CORDLESS mouse ? If so - have you replaced the batteries lately ? :) -
I know it's a stupid question, but sometimes it's these small details....I know that from my own experience...

No worries !

LOL No..I had one of those and really did not like it. This is the kind that has an infrared light on the bottom where it would normally have a ball. I love it so much better than the other kinds with the balls. I suppose it could have a problem, but it works fine in other programs and worked great in SoA. So I dont know..maybe it is just the way it is gonna be for me in this game.

Thanks!

YEAP. Some things are just better without "balls"... ;)

But seriously - I just can't believe that TOB shouldn't work for you...there HAS to be a way...let me think about it....

have you checked you graphics setting in the configuratiuon?

I had mine to 3-d accerleration once and had the same type of problems you are experienceing. Try to bump the video setting down some if that is the case.

Hope this helps.

if that doesn't work, well, someone will think of something.
