How in the 7 lower hells do I convince him to help my party instead of making me kill him?

I made it in the first try, maybe it has something to do with your reputation?

Negative. As far as reputation is concerned, I am a bloody angel. Not a single evil person in our party...the protagonist IS chaotic good...

Tried bloody everything...

....persuade Bodhi to join either!

I was true neutral.

The only thing I can think of is that you have to be lawful good (same as him) to persuade Balthazar and chaotic evil (same as her) to persuade Bodhi...

Also, does anybody know whether they join you as an npc (ie you have to kick someone out if you already have 6) or whether they fight alongside you like Drizzt, summoned creatures etc...

Convincing Balthazar requires a good argument... and it definitely helps if you have 18+ in Reputation and are at least Good-aligned (if not Lawful Good). A big part of convincing him is when you get the option to say you are a 'force for good and righteousness'... if that's true, he might believe you.

As for Bodhi, there are only three requirements to convincing Bodhi to join you. One, your reputation must be 10 or lower. Two, you must not be Good-aligned. Three, you cannot have Balthazar with you.

And they fight by your side like Drizzt did back in BG2, using their own AI... they don't join your party.
