ok....is there a way to brighten up the game so i can see other than just black in underground areas? my computer is brightened all the way and i still can't see.

I had the same problem. The only way i could fix it was to adjust monitor settings (i.e. outside of the game).
When in doubt, smack it with a war hammer....
