Who has been in your constant team throughout your BG gaming?
Who are the characters, that if missing, would make the game worse?
For me it would have to be Jahiera and Minsc, and Boo of course )
And also Nalia now that i have SoA and ToB.
It just would'nt seem like BG without a crazy man saying crazy things as a hamster squeaks and a bossy little1/2 elf telling me what is aceptable and what i should an should'nt do...ahhhhhhhhh.
To me that is BG all over
Boo and Chikita Fast-Paws sitting up a tree...

Life seems short considering how long you will be dead.
I would have to say Imoen and Minsc. Jaheira was never my kind of NPC. I hate her personality. I always kicked her out of the party when we reached the surface from Irenicus's dungeon.

Lintelyg I agree. I hate jaheira, first chance I get I get rid of her. Keldorn, Minsc and Imoen are my main ones...without those two swords and death spells, I'd be screwed.

the only time i ever kept minsc, jaheira or imoen in my group was the first time playing. i never use them any more at all. The only person who i've had in my group every time i play with a party is korgon, there are just no other good fighters like him you can pick up, well, until ToB.
i am the poet of the body and i am the poet of the soul
Two times through the game and Keldorn was a must for my party. Now that I'm a dead hunter I really miss him! But Korgan is so hilarious....
Cheers

Always Imoen (only thief you need and a great mage)
Always Aerie (romance, superb spellcaster)

Besides being a decent thief and a great mage I always take Imoen since she also is my half-sister.
I would probably have Keldorn as well, but since I'm a good guy I always let him go back to his family, isn't there a way around this?
I've never had Jan Jansen in my party for too long since I've heard that he might end up leaving you when his old sweetheart comes or something, is this correct?
Well, the only thing i can say is that the only NPC who has NEVER been in any of my teams is Minsc. Sorry guy's, but from BG1 i could not stand him. Boo, well that a diffrent story.
I always kept Jaheira and Minsc, no matter how many times I played, sure Jaheira is annoying but when you try to break up she sounds so sad, and Minsc I just could not break up with because of the humor. In BGII I never dumped Aerie, kept her throughout the whole game, mainly because of the versatility, and story. I know a lot of people like pure class characters, but I prefer multiclass or dual because they can compensate for a lot more problems and meld well together. For example Aerie I found melds well with Viconia, and is a fairly decent mage as well. Anyway that is just what I think.
I care not for endings or beginnings, but for the eternal and infinite spaces of the universe, and for the endless exploration of eternity, and mysteries which I will find plumbing the infinite depths.
"Do not turn inward to find peace and wisdom, turn outward instead to find liberation from the narrow boundaries of self", quote from Gary Paul Nabhan, paraphrased of course
"When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong" quote from Arthur C. Clarke, thought it was interesting.
Tips on living longer: eat right, exercise, and yes castrate yourself, eunuchs live longer then normal people.

Well, I always have Minsc because I "met him" long ago (a few years) when playing BG1. I know that sounds silly but really he has been a part of BG for me for so long that it would seem odd not having him. And he is a good tank and his good natured dialogue is less annoying than the dialogues of some other NPCs.
Aerie, has now become a mainstay as well. I have found that in BG2 a cleric really isn't needed for healing but is a huge help for buffing and other spells. Aerie being a cleric/mage is a real spell powerhouse.
Jaheira annoys me. I don't much like her at all but she makes an acceptable #3 tank and her Fire elementals, insect swarm and buffs come in handy. Also, I have to admit that I have become comfortable with her because of how long she has been a part of my BG experience.
Imoen is a good mage and the only mage that offers thieving abilities other than Jan (nalia is too weak a thief). I do not like Imoen or Jan to be honest but I need one or the other and it is usually Imoen (I use Jan till I get her).
