Turn Undead

Post by Stilgar »

I never use this ability, cause the only thing that happends for me, is 2skeletons running away for 2seconds.
But i've heared that it's realy effective.
At what level dous it becomes powerfull, and what damege dous it do?
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Unsure about the level, but later on it becomes SO powerful; good clerics can make virtually all undead explode while evil clerics can quickly gain control over vampires etc. As you can turn while invisible its almost cheesey.

As long as your cleric's level is high enough I don't think they get a save... Anomen will be good enough eventually(what level is he now?) As he levels up as a single class character and clerics level up pretty fast, this shouldn't take to long.

Can you make demi liches explode? Good question- think you'd have to be VERY high level though... maybe Viconia could control him??

Undead don't have a saving throw but in the original rules the priest had to roll for success and could only turn a certain number of undead.

TU is extremely powerful at high levels, I prefer the good cleric's destruction ability over the evil cleric's command ability. Controlling the undead doesn't make too much sense if you could otherwise destroy them outright, except for a few situations where you can use controlled undead to attack non-undead (eg twisted rune).

Since controlled undead cannot be destroyed with Daystar or Helm of Brillance (they have to turn hostile again first) it's a little bit annoying to get rid of them.

Plus it gets totally confusing with undead you've controlled fighting undead that aren't controlled and then GET controlled... impossible to tell whos on whos side. Plays havoc with any undead you might have summoned yourself. Much more straight forward with a good cleric who can just blast them.

Anyone know what effect neutral clerics have on undead?

Neutral clerics blow them away, too, which is preferable by far.

They don't really explode... they just fart with a lot of noise. It's quite embarrassing.
