Game Spy Arcade
Anybody here play this game in a multiplayer format on game spy arcade. Heck, even without gamespy arcade. does anyone host games regularly and then use roger wilco to communicate VOIP. It seems like it would be a lot of fun.

Gamespy is the only way I play multiplayer
and I have done it loads of times - and still do. I have never tried Roger Wilco, but I have tried ICQ phone at the same time...the problem is, ICQ phone has a tendency to crash my system on startup - but not once it is up and running....you need to do this first...

I've used roger wilco for counterstrike, ghost recon, and to cut back on long distance phone calls. It works seemlessly. I am really interested in getting involved in a multiplayer BG, BG2, or IWD game. Viv would probably be interested as well.

I've used Roger Wilco before, but had problems with slow connections. We were all on 56K dialup there was a lot of lag and it was hard to hear what some people were saying at times. I imagine if everyone has some sort of broadband connection you should be right

@Pebz - thanks for the link!![]()
I would advice not to use RW at the same time as you play a MP game with anything less then ISDN... the lag can really kill much of the fun

Ideally, the best way to run a MP game is to have one person host the RW channel and a second person would host the BG2 game. Anything less than a DSL or cable modem though is probably not worth your time participating.

Ok...though the person who normally hosts our recent games is across the pond from me and has cable connection, I have modem and am currently tied to British Telecom's maximum 43k connection - we have very little lag *wishes BT would bring down their digital prices*

ysh can't host
alright ysh, looks as if you shouldn't be hosting. interest has also included BS, viv, and unclescratchy. I can't host either because of my network configuration at home which I am too lazy to modify. Granted, each time we were to play, if I were hosting, I have to change settings and I'd rather not. Worst case scenario, I could, but I have a lot of information critical to national security on my windows 98 box at home so I'd rather continue to use the firewall. The NSA and CIA are a pain to deal with when your machine gets hacked.
Yo, BS, can you host a game. I could maybe host from a dummy machine I could connect at the workplace but again, I'd rather not. Let's get connections figured out and then we'll move on to scheduling time to play and who's going to play what class. Personally, I'd say our mission should be to slay every living thing in Athkatla, beginning with Moose and Squirrel.

What?!? We're slaying the cute moose and squirrel?? Can Viv at least play with them first, maybe give them a few hugs?
...That's okay...I think I'll just steal Boo from Minsc for Viv's cuddling needs....
I can host if needed, though we all know I'm not technically all there
I have cable if that helps?

Viv,
If you download gamespy arcade and roger wilco, there are walkthroughs for getting things up and running. Plus, you've got local tech support. I'm well affluent in how to host a game; it's just my current home network design doesn't allow for it.
Also, things for hosting mulitplayer are well spelled out in the BG2 manual.
Perhaps we can alter my maniacal quest and slay all the people involved with the circus and then set the animals free, except Moose and Squirrel. They've got a date with celestial fury.

I am about to get DSL in the next couple weeks. My connection speed at the moment is slow as can be, but I could probably host it if no one else wants to. I have never been a host before, but hell, how hard could it be? (famous last words)
I guess I will have to read that manual again.
