Best villain on the series (SPOILER)

Post by Leonardo »

Which main villain do you think was the coolest on the BG series?
My vote goes for Sarevok, somewhat biased because I liked BG1 overall storyline much more than SoA and ToB. SoA storyline is OK, but with a lot of plot-holes; ToB is good but you know Melissan is up to no good the moment you see her, it´s no surprise at the end. On BG1, you are thrown in the middle of a world crisis and will only at the end unfold the truth... marvelous.
Back to the villains: Irenicus is creepy and devious; but has too much Mad-Scientist-James-Bond-Nemesis style to me. And he looks like Robocop without the helmet. Melissan is better, but she never got the chance to shine on.
Sarevok had style since the BG1 opening movie, has cool lines that stuck in my brain even now years after playing BG1 ("I am sorry you feel that way, old man"); had the guts to appear in front of my PC unarmed and unarmored to fulfill his plans, and in the end conquered death to be alive again, fighting alongside the man who slew him!
Sarevok rocks!

Abazigal: "Oh my god! They killed Yaga-Shura!"
Sendai: "You bastards!"

Irenicus... simply because of the great voice acting :D

I agree Pebz, whoever voiced Irenicus did a really good job. Even his final agonizing cry was sweet :D . He gets my vote.

David warner

Irenicus was the best, sarevok was cool when he showed it; he was more like not going to fail, but I cannot fail!

I will agree with Pebz about Irenicus' voice acting. First time through SoA I was almost excited by his dramatic tone and acting. But as far as that. Nothing else. And I have said it before:
even Bodhi was far better and more genuine than him.

If we are to talk about a true and complete in many aspects character then no doubt my vote goes to Sarevok!

Cheers

The italian voice for Irenicus is not so great.
While Sarevok's voice and acting is REALLY great!

And I agree with all that Leonardo said about him!!!
My vote is for Sarevok!

My vote goes to Irenicus.
French voice is great, while Sarevok's French voice is quite poor.
On the other hand, gotta say that bodhi is much more clever than her brother ;)

I have to say Irenicus.
As I've said before David Warner's voice made him, for me, the best villain in any game ever.

The overall sound of BG wsa very good, in SoA I was ouside once and it started raining. My mother came upstairs for something, "Hear that? It's raining really hard." Uhm, no mom, thats my game.
So I'm not gonna base my choice on that.

I liked Sarevok the most (cool name too), charismatic evil. No bull****, just evil.

@ Rob-hin:

I was about to ask whether we vote based on voices, hair colour, height, etc., or on characters' nature?

But then it came your post, and I was deeply satisfied. For the example with the rain says it all!
