heeelppp please? sound popping problems

Post by pooburgler »

ok, right after I installed nvidia's stupid detonator driver updates for my geforce 2 mx video card, I've been having this REALLY annoying 'popping' on my game sound effects. more than half of the time that the characters are talking, they stutter, pop, and skip words. Do you have any idea at all how frustrating it is playing a dialog-driven game where all the NPC's plus myself t-talk like thi-is and ha-ve most of the-ir words broken in ha-lf? grrrrr! and to top it off, the driver update didn't even improve my game play. Has anyone else run into this kind of sound problem? is there any way to get rid of it without having to turn my sound config all the way down to "boring" setting? I formerly had a lot of sound effects enabled with no problems, now everything sucks.

I recall this problem being mentioned in one or more of the threads in the Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal Troubleshooting forum, so you might want to check there.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

So you got the driver for your video card. Why don't you get the latest one for your sound card?
