after you beat lavok, instead of killing him for the ring of acuity, you can just pickpocket him. thats a nice ring.

Best thing to do is to pickpocket him before he initiates dialogue. This way you get a ring then and another one when you complete the quest. Unlike ring of wizardry rings of acuity stack.
