Importing and Exporting PC Characters with Ease

Post by Casius »

There's a slim chance if anything like this exists, but it's worth posting anyway (Plus Perhaps a Suggestion to all you programmers). I'm wondering if there is some kind of program that'll let you import and export PC characters on an ongoing game while keeping their stats, level, spells, etc. As I've said before, I'm more into PC games, although there are times when I want to get a NPC for a while, but unless I want to go through a whole lot of trouble with ShadowKeeper and other things, I can't do such a thing, so I'm forced to leave a spot open for NPCs.

Wow, had to read it five times to understand it (just got out of my faforite bar (sally o'briens) so could be that i'm a little drunk (or alot)

But if i'm not mistaken you want to change you;re PC in the middle of a game.

Don't know I believe it can be done in a multiplayer game!!!!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Yes, but let's say you want to temporarily make a PC player go. You can't do that and keep there stats, level, spells, etc. without going through a whole lot of trouble with ShadowKeeper or another editor.

Let me see if I got this right. You want to export a character, place another character in the existing game for awhile, the re-import the first character in?

I have done it and the "official strategy guide" suggests doing it as well to avoid certain ahh... pitfalls.

In multi-player, export your character, then go to character arbitration and choose modify characters. Then delete that character, create character, import another character or create another char. When you want to change do this again. I hope that this is what you wanted.

Does that preserve the level and things like that?

It is supposed to preserve the levels, items, spells etc. I've only imported chars. at the beginning of the game where the items are stripped anyway but I retained the levels and the spells.

Ah good, I never knew it actually preserved all the work you put into the character, I thought it only loaded up your character's saved file. Thanks.

As far as i know the only item that doesnt import so well is the bag of holding, make sure you keep the bag on an active character.

If you export your character before removing him from your party, all will be preserved. Just be sure to import from your character file rather than from a save game when you next want to pick them up - as has been explained, you do this in multiplayer :)

Once you have picked him/her back up, save your game and copy it from your MPSave folder into your save folder, you can now play single player again :)
