Insane difficulty

Post by semper fidelis »

In real life if you get stabbed you die like instantly so I try to accomodate this in the game by playing it in insane mode. This is awesome! These rune assassins do 90 damage every time and the only person in the party who don't get hacked into chunks of meat is Minsc! Mages you meet cast magic missile on you, and they do like 8 or 10 damage, which I think is a bug. I don't know if enemy abilities change as well, but I don't remember the shadow dragon breath draining 4 levels every time (and it's an area effect!) That was quite annoying. Drizzt does some 35 damage every hit, so I had to keep casting stoneskins because they wear out so fast... when I ran out of stoneskins I was forced to use cheese on him ;)

What difficulty do you all play? Anyone like the insane mode? :D
Murphy's Constant

Matter will be damaged in direct proportion to its value.

Yea, insane mode rocks but it has its problems. Only monster damage is doubled - not their HP. So....by Throne of Bhaal I found it was just as easy as normal difficulty.

I mean if you have 3 tanks up front with AC of around -6 to -10 all using hardiness and Greater Whirlwind attack everything gets diced. I mean Melissan didn't cast any spells against me and hardly fought - she just kept going 'ah' as she got hit - although I was using Holy Avenger+6, Crom Feyr+Axe of Unyielding+5, and Fobane+Stormstar
