Beeing Invincibla as a Monk

Post by Laenor »

Funny thing i discovered:

If you turn into a Rat using Cloak of the Sewers, you earn 90% resist to all Melee damage (piercing, blunt, slash)
Using The Tob ability that grants +40% resist to all melee damge gets you up to 127% resist in every Melee damage (Immune to physical attacks)

Add to that the fact that with a high level monk you can easily have 100% magic resist, and voila : invincible Monkey !

Just, instead of doing 30-50 dmg per hit, you do 8-10 dmg
Using Greater Whirlwind with this combo shall compensate for the lack of damage per hit (doing 10 x 8 dmg per round is still nice, since you are invincible hehehe :p )

btw: I'm soloing SoA and ToB as a Monk and i'm having a blast:

98% resist to magic, Immune to +1 weapons, -19 ac (yes.. -19 !)
and thaco of -9 (shall become -11 once i get Fire Giant strengh belt), pounding ennemies for 30-50 dmg is just.. well.. Powerfull :D

Edit: and of course, got all that without using a single cheat, no CLUA or anything)

Test of Selfishness

- Evil
Character selected is killed. In my game it always selected Minsc. Protection from Magic caused 'spell ineffective' results but he died anyway. I was able to resurrect him and he seemed just fine and his usual happy self as he killed Sarevok in single combat. ("Great Fun!")
End Game Reward: 10% Magic Resistance

- Good
Player character loses 2 of his maximum HP, 1 dex, and exp (but I didn't seem to lose any exp)
End Game Reward: 10% Magic Resistance
Taking the evil path with my Monk granted me a +2 AC bonus, not +10% Magic Resistance

this is why jahiera may be best fighter in npc pool. minsc is also killer!!!

now I fly with the balderdash patch, so my cheese is more subtle, and more fun to create. you cast hardiness on yourself, then armor of faith, 1st level preist spell. unpatched, my game allows stacked hardiness for ultimate in protection, but with patch, casting both I get for minsc and jahiera, only ones who can cast priest spells, around 70% resistant...
with jahiera, iron skin allows for great protection...
They call me Darth...

Darth Gizka!

Muwahahahahhahahha!!!

post this at the cheese guild to bump it up to top
Being an Evil Overlord seems to be a good career choice. It pays well, there are all sorts of perks and you can set your own hours. However every Evil Overlord I've read about in books or seen in movies invariably gets overthrown and destroyed in the end. I've noticed that no matter whether they are barbarian lords, deranged wizards, mad scientists or alien invaders, they always seem to make the same basic mistakes every single time. Therefore, if I ever happen to become an Evil Overlord, ...
