I've been bothered with this for a while:
How will hacking be prevented in NWN? Looking back to DiabloII, I can think of only one solution: character files being stored on a server somewhere out there, rathar than on your machiene. Then again that makes me think back to D2 again, and I get memories of terrible lag. MMORPGs solve this problem by making us pay, and then having enough money to upgrade their servers.. But NWN is supposed to be free..
Sorry for the lame post, but I'm tired, so if I have written anything extremely stupid, don't blame it on me - blame it on the lack of sleep .
Vicsun, I certainly agree with your assertion that you are an unpleasant person.~Chanak
Vaults on severs will make it able for the people running the sever to prevent such things.
Basically you store your character on the server and when you want to play you log it down to your own computer.
The vault will then when you exit the server be able to check your saving char. and if it exceeds some predefinated value for ei. amount of exp gained compared to time played or something - it will either reset or not allow you to save.
At least that will be the idea, as for the real thing - we will see
But also the fact that you often only play modules will make it - well - uninteresting for people to hack the character.
If you want to play with a char. with 25 in all stats starting at level 20, well you can, simply by making a module.

Abundance of fast, free servers exists only in a perfect world. This world is, alas... Oh, well, you get the picture.
