solution for missing Renfeld's Thugs (SPOILER)

solution for missing Renfeld's Thugs

If you are like me and you missed the thugs that have Renfeld signifying the start of the Harper's series of quests you could either try and figure out how to continue on... or you can take my well researched and tested advice :) .

When you meet renfeld you get his body and a ten day timer start... then when you talk to rylock it checks to see if you have the body and to see if the timer hasn't expires in order to access the special dialoge option. Doing this will give your party 14,550 xp if he is alive and 8000 if he is dead... he will then give you 200 gold and send you on your way... then Xzar appears who gives you the quest and you find out about the harpers etc.

ANYWAYS... you need a solution to get the thugs to appear or to set the timer. Well in my case I don't know such advanced things such as setting timers sooooo what i did was i gave myself the gold (CLUAConsole:AddGold(200) ) and set the global variable which it checks to see if Xzar can appear.... its simple.. just give yourself the gold and input this...
SetGlobal("LyrosSpawn","GLOBAL",1)

Apparently when this LyrosSpawn variable is equal to 1 he appears and you can skip over the entire first part missing only a done quests journal entry and 14,550 xp (unless you can figure out how to give yourself that exact amount :P ) without consequence, i'm pretty sure. Well hope my advice can help others in the future :) .

Ps. If you don't know how to enable the console edit your baldur.ini file to add the line "Debug=1" under the program options section... then to access the console in the game (must be restarted first) press ctrl-space then enter those codes. And no this is not cheating because you are not giving yourself anything that would make anything unfair... simply enabling the quest.

@Chanser, when you post something that's going to be a spoiler, please indicate that in the title. Buck, the website owner, has also asked this, in the sticky at the top of the thread.

I've already amended this one. Please do it in the future. Thanks.

I was pretty sure that wasn't a spoiler because you wouldn't look at it unless you know who Renfeld was or to find the information you need well i used my judgement and i was wrong sorry... i read the sticky.

Anyways I think by doing this i have messed up my game because she won't come back now so don't take my advice here.

Then consider deleting this thread. :D As it's yours, you can pull it. Since it offers poor advice, you might as well save other people from reading it. ;)

Ok i retried it and looked at some more message boards and turns out i just needed to sleep... so this CLUA code does do the trick and is successful. So if like me you miss the thugs feel free to advance ahead to keep Jaheira. :)
