naive mage questions
naive mage questions
This is my first time through this game, and I'm still very early on. I have two quick questions from vets:
1. I distributed my points at the beginning of the game with the intention of becoming a mage, but I haven't found anyone to train me as a mage. I found the guy who trains warriors in the NW Hive and the guy who trains theives in Ragpicker's Square, but I still can't find anyone who can make me a mage. Getting pretty tired of being a fighter with 9s in STR and CON.
2. Is "edged weapons" a good weapons profiency for mages?
Thanks.

Don't worry: you'll find an old lady who can teach you magic in Ragpicker's Square. Note, once you get your own spellbook, Dak'kon will be able to switch you back and forth between fighter and mage.
Edged weapons are a good choice.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
Edged weapons are a very good choice. Make sure you level up NO (Nameless One) in the fighter class at least several times - his mage class benefits in terms of improved THACO and additional proficiency points.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

slight spoilers!
You need to have really high wisdom (19 if I am not mistaken) and Intelligence (forgot the exact number) to benefit from the conversation you have with Dakkon after you become a mage.
In case you don't have the requisites, you can buy certain tattoos from a certain Dabus to raise your prime requisites.

If you want the Mage bonuses for getting to level 7 and 12, don't go beyond level six as a fighter, as you wouldn't get both mage bonuses. When you get to level seven as a mage, I think you can, I'm not sure, but if not wait till you get to level twelve.
P.S Welcome to the boards and have fun playin Torment!
P.P.S Fun playing Torment? Sounds a bit strange (not the game, just the words).

The specialization bonuses are applied to the class in which you first reach levels 7 and 12.
Example: You reach level 7 in the mage class first. You receive the first specialization bonus, appropriate to the mage class. After this, leveling up to 12 in the mage class first nets you the double-specialization bonus, whereas leveling up to 12 in another class first nets you the first bonus for that class.

Do you mean the old lady who also offers to heal you? If you mean some other lady, then where is she? And can I still get there? I have died when I entered the cave beyond the portal. When I woke up, I was in some other part of the city where I met Pharod. I now have a quest I have to do for him in order to get some information about myself. It's the quest in the catacombe (don't know exactly what i have to do at this moment, I should read the journal again).Originally posted by fable

It is my personal opinion, but there aren't many Fighters on the game to keep the hordes back and it can be difficult not to die a lot. Dying isn't a problem on P:T though.Originally posted by Rudar Dimble
Why isn't it the easiest. In BG2 I found it to be the easiest class. That's why i picked it in Torment (ok, I also love being one )
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.

But what is the manual is tlkaing about reincarnation%? Or that you will reincarnate quicker?
Does that mean that sometimes you don't reincarnate (when you are slain, not when you are burned or eaten)

When you die you get ressurected and depending on how you did earlier parts of the game you can resurrect your party as well.Originally posted by Rudar Dimble
