HELP!! Transfer error

When I try to install BG2, I insert disk 1, and it's all screwed. "Transfer error" followed by some numbers. Is the disk screwed, or can I do something about it? (it's the original disk)

It's sound like your disk, but what about your CD drive. Is that ok?

What exactly did the error message say? Have you installed from this disk before?
