there is an 8th level spell that summons a sword (i think mordekain's sword or something like that).

First of all this sword acts like a summoned creature (just like fire elementals for example) but also is a +4 weapon, so everyone can understand how useful it is.

But this is the good part: when the sword "dies" it leaves behind an amulet which makes the character immune to charm, confusion etc. and most important: immune to psionics!!! killing mind flayers should be very easy after that (though i haven't tried it yet)
